Logistics
My office is located at 102 Sullivan Drive, Westminster West, Vermont. For some reason, Google identifies our road as Streamside Drive.  Here's a link to Google Maps: http://www.maps.google.com. Written directions for the map-impaired are below.

From Bellows Falls:  Come into Saxtons River as if you were coming to the old office.  Stay on Main Street until you come to the end of town--you will pass the Village Market and the Saxtons River Inn on your right.  At the end of town, take a left turn onto the Westminster West Road--set your odometer here.  Our home/office is 2.4 miles from this turn.  You know you are getting close when you pass an old red Cape house with a green metal roof close to the road on the left.  Our driveway is the next left, and there is a sign, along with some mailboxes, on the left side of the road just before the driveway.  If you come to Bemis Hill Road on the right, you've gone just too far.  Take the straight/left fork when the driveway forks(there is another sign here), cross a small wooden bridge, and come up the hill.  Swing around to the right and park facing the chicken coop.  The office is the new, barn-like structure on your left as you're facing the chickens.

From Brattleboro/Putney:  From Bratt., take I-91 north to exit 4, the Putney exit.  Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and then bear right onto Main Street.  Stay on Main Street for several blocks, passing the library and the Town Hall on the left.  Just past the Town Hall is a left hand turn next to the Putney General Store: this is the Westminster West Road.  Turn here and set your odometer.  Our home/office is 10.4 miles from this turn.  You'll know you are very close when you see Bemis Hill Road on the left.  DO NOT TURN onto Bemis Hill Road!  This is only a landmark for the driveway.  There is one driveway directly across from this road, then ours is the next one on the right, approximately 30 yards down the road.  You will see the sign for the office.  When the driveway forks, take the left/straight fork (there is another sign here), cross a small wooden bridge, and come up the hill.  Swing around to your right and park facing the chicken coop; the office is the new, barn-like structure on your left.

From Chester/Springfield:  Coming into Saxtons River from the Pleasant Valley Road, turn right onto Westminster West Road just before the Post Office.  Set your odometer here--the new office is 2.4 miles from here.  See the directions under "from Bellows Falls" for further details.

Financial Policies

I am no longer billing insurance.  It has taken much painful consideration to arrive at this decision.  If you'd like to know more about how I arrived at it, you can read my blogs on the topic at http://www.lisadc.com/blog_list_detail.php?ID=35 and http://www.lisadc.com/blog_list_detail.php?ID=36.

I offer a sliding scale.  For a half-hour, the scale slides between $65 and $40.  For an hour, it slides between $100 and $75.  For 90 minute visits, the scale ranges from $90-$150.  Where finances prove an obstacle to care, I am open to alternative arrangements.

I generally expect payment at the time of your visit unless we make other arrangements in advance.  I accept payment via check or cash; I do not accept credit or debit cards.

 Cancellation Policy

If you miss an appointment without giving me 24 hour notice, I will charge you for my time, and for the loss to other community members who might have used your slot.  I charge $75 for a missed hour visit, $40 for a half hour.  I make exceptions for unavoidable circumstances, including terrible weather, illness, car trouble, sick kids, etc.

How to get the most out of your visit

Much of the work we do together involves movement, so come prepared to move!  Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing.  Hint: blue jeans might feel comfortable for walking around or driving, but those big, thick seams are no fun when you're lying on your back or rolling around on a firm surface!  Shorts, sweatpants, or yoga pants are better choices than jeans or skirts.

Since our aim is to loosen the grip of your habits, it's good if you can schedule your visits so that you have 5-15 minutes to walk after a Feldenkrais lesson.  The walking gives you time to experience and integrate any changes the lesson may have facilitated; if you leap back in your car immediately after a visit, you're likely to leap back into your familiar ways of moving, feeling and thinking as well.  It's also great to avoid doing strenuous exercise for 12-24 hours after a lesson (walking is fine, but skiing, tennis, or basketball would be less ideal).  If our work together undermines your habit, your old ways of doing things might not be as reliable as usual, but new ways of doing things need time to take root.  In the interim, you might be more than usually vulnerable to injury or poor performance.

The kind of learning facilitated by the Feldenkrais work is to some extent incompatible with verbal processing.  While we use words during lessons to heighten your ability to notice and integrate change, it is good to avoid chatting about matters unrelated to the work at hand.  It's also good to be quiet for a little while (5-15 minutes or more) after a lesson.  If you can take a walk in silence then, it's wonderful!  I try to do the business of a visit (paying, scheduling) at the beginning so that you can leave quietly when our time together is finished.
